DAILY READINGS: Judges 13:1-25; Isaiah 33:1-24; 1 Corinthians 11:2-34

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11

In my early teens I attended a home Bible study and met a lady who had been converted to Christ during the Welsh revival (1904-05). The revival drove people to the Bible—to read, mediate, memorize and study it. To my amazement she talked of having memorized the whole book of Psalms and then to my utter astonishment the whole of the New Testament. It challenged me to get God’s Word into my mind and so to have an effective bulwark against sin. —Paul Young

Lord of that word, the word of life which fires us,
Speaks to our hearts and sets our souls ablaze,
Teaches and trains, rebukes us and inspires us:
Lord of the word, receive Your people’s praise. —Timothy Dudley-Smith
