DAILY READINGS: 2 Chronicles 31:1-21; Ezekiel 47:1-23; 1 John 1:1-2:11

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness… Hebrews 3:7-8

In early spring as I was gardening, I was bothered by blisters developing on a couple of fingers. Over the ensuing days as callouses developed, I no longer noticed them, the sensitivity having disappeared. Spiritually we must be careful that we do not become hardened to God’s voice. Each time one rejects the admonition of God their heart is increasingly numbed to the truth. Over time they may become desensitized to the point that they no longer hear at all. Dear reader, be sensitive to His voice today. —George Ferrier

Oh, do not let the Word depart, and close thine eyes against the light;
Poor sinner, harden not your heart, be saved, Oh tonight. —E. H. Reed
