Numbers 6:1-27; Proverbs 3:1-35; Mark 14:53-72

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36

In 1844 Captain Jonathan Walker tried to help four slaves to freedom. Sadly they were caught and returned, while Walker was imprisoned, severely beaten and branded onto his hand were the letters SS which stood for Slave Stealer. When he died many years later those letters were on his headstone and many have mistaken them for Slave Saviour. Like that captain we have a Saviour who carries the marks of suffering in His hands and through those wounds we are saved from sin and experience eternal freedom,
for which we praise God. —Paul Young

Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night, Jesus I come! Jesus I come!
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light, Jesus, I come to Thee!   —William True Sleeper
