The southern steps leading up to the Temple Mount differ in length making it impossible to hurry along. Worshipers must slow down and think about each step as they make their approach. Heads bow to pay attention to their feet, conversation quiets to concentrate, hearts fill with anticipation while ears listen to hear His voice.
