And with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name. 1 Chron. 16:41, NKJV
When David restored proper worship at the tabernacle he installed various individuals to carry out particular duties. They were chosen because of the skills they had for the task and were “designated by name”. God always calls those who love and serve Him by name. He knows your name. He knows you and He loves you. The very hairs of your head are numbered (Luke 12:7). This passage does not record all of the names of these men who were “designated by name”. But God knows their names (and ours) and that is enough. —Annette Baal
