Joshua 14:1-15:63; Isaiah 10:5-34; 1 Thessalonians 1:1-2:12

I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Job 42:5

Job made this astonishing declaration at the end of his trial. His knowledge of God had deepened! Job’s relationship with the Lord, which previously had been limited to what he had heard, became instead firsthand knowledge. Things that had been theoretical became very real and personal to Job. It would seem that there are some things we simply cannot know about the Lord unless He takes us through deep waters. What a comfort to realize that even in our most challenging times, the Lord reveals Himself to us.  —Lynn Shatford
