The word “Advocate” has the meaning of a defense attorney. The moment a believer sins, our advocate asks the Father to look on Him and to forgive them because of His blood shed at the cross. In Christ’s death the righteous demands of a holy God were fully satisfied. Christ bore the wrath of God for every sin and now every believer is in a position of favor.
