Genesis 35:1-29; Psalms 7:1-8:9; Matthew 19:16-20:16

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. Revelation 19:13
The Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white. Revelation 19:7-8

Here we behold our Saviour, clothed with blood-stained garments. Here, also, we see ourselves, His church, His bride, clothed with “fine linen, clean and white”! By His death on the cross for our sins, He has cast away the “filthy rags” and dressed us with His own “robe of righteousness” (Isa. 61:10). “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 Jn 1:7). What a wonderful Saviour! —Elizabeth C. Bishop

All these once were sinners, defiled in His sight,
Now arrayed in pure garments in praise they unite! —A.T. Pierson
