Many read this verse and think of physical death, but the phrase “shadow of death” also has other connotations. Besides physical death, it also could mean moments of dark isolation, sadness, or fear. Perhaps you are lonely today, feeling adrift on a sea of great sadness. Fear not. The Shepherd is with you.
