Getting some fresh air, I walked with my host along a scenic, wooded trail. Leaving the trail, we came upon a small, secluded grave site with a few family headstones. One was of an ordinary Christian soldier, who had fought in the American Revolution. Unknown to many, he was a friend of George Washington. Similarly, many of us quietly serve the Lord. Yet, the Lord knows of our service. Moreover, He delights to call us His friends (John 15:14-15). —George Ferrier
