You shall bind them as a sign on your hand. Deut. 6:8 NKJV
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands. Isaiah 49:16
The lament of Jerusalem in Isaiah 49 was that God had forgotten them, but it was they who had forgotten Him! God told them that a nursing mother might, possibly, forget her child, but for Him to forget His own was impossible. Hebrew men used ribbons to bind His covenant upon their hands and those phylacteries could easily fall. God’s people, however, were engraved upon His hands—upon the palms! That permanent record was ever visible as His upturned hands reached out to receive them. —Phil Coulson
My name from the palms of His hands, eternity will not erase;
Impressed on His heart it remains, in marks of indelible grace. —Augustus Toplady
