1 Samuel 1:1-28; Isaiah 44:6-23; 2 Corinthians 4:7-5:10

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6

The moon has no light; it merely reflects the sun’s light. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the earth comes between them, blocking the sun’s light. Our hearts were previously darkened until the knowledge of Christ’s glory shone into them. Since then, the truth of Christ’s glorious death and resurrection shines forth from us to a lost world when they see Christ in us. Let us prevent anything on earth from eclipsing the truth of Christ’s glory shining through us. —George Ferrier

Send the light, where souls are dying, in their darkness, gloom and night.
Haste, O haste! The days are fleeting, and the hours, how swift their flight!  —Fanny Crosby
