Deuteronomy 30:1-31:13; Amos 9:1-15; Luke 16:1-31

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21
The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. James 3:6

Inflammatory speech is common today, as uncontrolled tongues both cause and spread wildfires. As our verse says, we can effectively kill with our tongues by speaking evil of others. Thankfully, the opposite is also true. With a tongue of blessing, we can praise God, share the Gospel, lift others up in prayer, and encourage. With so much fire in our world, let us use our tongues to put some of it out rather than adding more fuel. —David Petterson

Loving words will cost but little,

But they make the weak and weary,
Stronger, braver for the strife. —Author Unknown
