DAILY READINGS: 2 Kings 4; Jeremiah 37; Hebrews 9:1-14
Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased
to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his
inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among
his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this
day. Ruth 4:10
Ruth, a destitute widow from an outcast people came into the
Messiah’s genealogy, and the name of the deceased Mahlon was preserved,
safeguarding the inheritance for his family. On a higher level,
for the overcoming saint, the Lord Jesus promises to “Confess his
name before my Father, and before His angels” (Rev. 3:5). Our names
will be eternally commemorated in heaven by grace. —Keith Keyser
