My God hath sent His angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me. Daniel 6:22a
These chapters have to do with refusing to eat—Daniel refused to eat the King’s food and the lions refused to eat Daniel. They also recount Daniel’s initial spiritual stand against two world emperors. In the first Daniel was confronted with the subtle attractions of Nebuchadnezzar’s hedonistic lifestyle. In the second, because of His Godly standards he faced the legal wrath of Darius. Daniel refused to compromise to either temptation or oppression. How will we respond? —S. McEachern
