James L Crookes is a retired civil servant, living in Northern Ireland. He was converted in 1937, and has been in assembly fellowship since then. He served in the RAF from 1939 to 1946, four of those years being in Egypt. Along with his professional activities and his involvement in Christian work, Crookes studied singing after the war and for several years broadcast as a bass soloist on the BBC. He is married with one daughter and four sons, all of them Christians.
