DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 7:11-38; Psalm 107; Acts 28:17-31

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given Me, be with Me
where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given Me:
for thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24

The expression “father” is indicative of sonship and submission.
The Lord Jesus said that He always did the things that pleased the
Father and suggested He was not here on earth to please Himself. He
was obedient to the Father’s will. Here, however, in His prayer He,
on the one hand, says, “Father”, yet on the other, says, “I will”! What
was it He felt so strongly about? It was that those He loves should
spend eternity in His presence. —Roy Hill

Beneath the mount is toil and pain; O Christ Thy strength impart;
Till we, transfigured, too, shall reign, forever where Thou art. —A. Chatfield

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 6:8 to 7:10; Psalm 106; Acts 28:1-16

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead
in Christ shall rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:16

While filling in a form for a medical exam, I came to the section for
previous or present illnesses. I checked a few of the boxes, but left a
lot empty. Thank the Lord for empty boxes! As time goes by, if our
Lord be not come, I’ll fill in more of those boxes in the doctor’s office.
Finally I’ll keep the appointment with death and I’ll be given another
box to fill. But when He comes, I’ll rise and that last box will be
empty. —R. Trogdon

O Lord Jesus, how long, how long, ere we shout the glad song?
Christ returneth.—Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.—H.L.T.

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 5:14 to 6:7; Psalm 105; Acts 27:27-44

But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son
of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were
eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the
day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood
came, and took them all away. Matthew 24:37-39a

Our Lord here tells of the conditions that will exist just before His
return. There will be a craze for pleasure and the lust of the flesh.
People will leave God, eternity and judgment out of their thoughts.
How similar to our own day. May God help us to be faithful in warning
those around us of the great judgment just ahead. —Jim Pizzulli

Look unto Jesus and be saved; see Him uplifted on the tree,
There all the guilt has been displayed; see how He suffered there for me.
—T. B. Gilbert

Lord’s Day, March 28, 2010

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 4:27 to 5:13; Psalm 104; Acts 27:1-26

And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and His sweat
was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Luke 22:44

Insight into the enormity of a task can be gained by noting the
effort put into it by a capable person. If a powerful man with big muscles
lifts a large object but only with the greatest of effort, we know
its weight is significant. If the Son of God, who created stars with His
fingers, was moved to such anguish by the awful prospect of Calvary,
oh how great was His task there. —David Logan

None of the ransomed ever knew,
How deep were the waters crossed;
Nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through,
E’re He found His sheep that was lost. —Elizabeth C. Clephane

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 4:1-26; Psalm 103; Acts 26:19-32

Come and see the works of God: He is terrible in His doing toward
the children of men. Psalms 66:5
Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what He
hath done for my soul. Psalms 66:16

The first call is to “see” God’s awesome works, both in creation
and in redemption. How good it is to learn that an all-powerful God
can transform our sinful lives, when we repent and believe on the
Lord Jesus! When we do so, we are in a position to use the psalmist’s
second call, “Come hear what He hath done for my soul.” Have you
such a story to tell? —G. Hall

Only a sinner saved by grace!
This is my story—to God be the glory;
I’m only a sinner saved by grace. —James M. Gray

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 3; Psalm 102; Acts 26:1-18

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and
lose his own soul? Mark 8:36
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can
carry nothing out. 1 Timothy 6:7

Our world is driven by desire. Those with no earthly goods want
some and those who have an abundant wealth want more. How sad.
At the end of life it will all be left behind. The Lord Jesus invites you
today to put your trust in Him as your Saviour! Then you will have
an inheritance reserved in heaven for you. —Jim Paul

If I gained the world but lost the Saviour!
Would my gain be worth the life long strife?
Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing?
For a moment with a Christ filled life! —Anna Olander

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 2; Psalms 99-101; Acts 25:13-27

And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first
month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from
off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and
looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. Genesis 8:13

The flood experience is linked to Noah’s birthday (Gen 7:11). On
his 601st birthday he opened up the ark. What a celebration Noah
had that day! After nearly a year of being shut up and tossed about
in the ark, he could look out and see the result of God’s salvation. The
whole earth will be made right one day and it will be at the resurrection—
the redemption of our bodies. What a celebration that will be!
Let us, with patience, wait for it. —Tom Steere

Lord, now we wait for Thee to come and take us to Thy Father’s home;
Oh, what ecstatic joy ‘twill be to spend eternity with Thee! —J. G. Deck

DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 1; Psalms 96-98; Acts 24:24 to 25:12

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

This exhortation is given to believers. By the mercy and love of
God, have you been forgiven of your sins? Praise His holy Name!
Now then, in loving-kindness show the same spirit to your brothers
and sisters in Christ. Yea, even unto all. Remember, always be kind,
willing to forgive! —E. MacLelland

He saw me ruined in the fall,
Yet loved me notwithstanding all;
He saved me from my lost estate;
His loving-kindness-O how great!
—Samuel Medley

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 40; Psalms 94-95; Acts 24:1-23

I will…set up my standard [banner]…Thou shalt know that I am the
LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.Isa. 49:22,23

One of God's names is Jehovah Nissi, the Lord is my Banner. The
banner rallied the troops or was raised to announce the victory. How
wonderful that "His banner over me is love". As we face principalities
and powers today, whether they be people or problems, discouragements
or fears, let us raise high the banner of His power, His love, His
name, declaring to our foes and reminding ourselves that He has
already won the victory. Do not be disappointed. The final chapter is
not yet played out. Hope in him; give a shout of victory. The strength
of His love will never let you down. —M. MacMullen

The Lord is our banner; the battle is His.
The weakest of saints more than conqueror is.—Anon.

DAILY READINGS: Exodus 39; Psalms 92-93; Acts 23:12-35

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine
shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity. Titus 2:7

Inside the parking compound for staff of the Police Station at
Calgary is a sign to warn police officers about to drive out onto the
public road. It says “Drive as if all eyes were on you; they are!” This
is a lesson for Christians to remember. The world is watching us. We
must act the part. We must represent our Saviour’s interests well. We
must bear a good testimony. —Brian Powlesland

Help me remember when others I see,
They are reading the Gospel according to me.
At verses of Scripture lost men merely grope,
But my life goes under the microscope. —Anon.
