Genesis 18:1-33; Job 21:1-34; Matthew 10:1-23

Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10 NKJV

The Lord supplies and multiplies the seed of the gospel to make our ministry more fruitful. Fruit bearing is the ministry in which God works in us and through us. In us, He is producing the fruit of the Spirit. Through us, we are the branches abiding in the Vine so that we bear fruit, more fruit, and much fruit (John
15:2, 5). He is shaping us to be fruitful in every good work and increasing (Col. 1:10)! —Rex Trogdon

Genesis 17:1-27; Job 20:1-29; Matthew 9:18-38

And they brought young children to him. Mark 10:13

Part of our work for the Lord has been to run numerous holiday clubs, missions and meetings for children. It is a delightful blessing to teach boys and girls to sing Christian songs and memorise His Word which points them to the Saviour. The fruit of such work is truly unknown but every so often someone mentions that they came to saving faith at one of those meetings. That is an uplifting encouragement and what an incentive for all who undertake to teach the things of God to the young. —Paul Young

Whose love can never die.  —Albert Midlane

Genesis 15:1-16:16; Job 18:1-19:29; Matthew 8:28-9:17

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11

The Lord does not hold back His grace. He is our sun, our guiding light, as this world increasingly descends into darkness. He is our shield against the fiery darts of the devil. He empowers us to increasingly have victory over sin and teaches us in trials to rise above our circumstances. When we reach heaven, He will give us glory, completing our salvation. Christ in us, help for today and the hope of glory. —George Ferrier

Genesis 13:1-14:24; Job 16:1-17:16; Matthew 8:1-27

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him. Isaiah 59:16 NKJV

There was no mediator to reconcile sinful man to a holy God. So, God acted. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Mediator of the new covenant, (Heb. 12:24). In Him only, we are reconciled to God and have peace with Him and everlasting life. —Annette Baal

Genesis 11:27-12:20; Job 15:1-35; Matthew 7:7-29

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is present in the past, present in the present, and present in the future. He is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (everywhere) and omnipotent (all-powerful). We can rest in His unchangeableness and leave the past with its failures, the present with its trials and the future with its uncertainties in “the good hand of our God” (Ezra 8:18). He will take care of it all! —E. C. B.

Lord of past ages, Lord of this morning,
Lord of the future, help us, we pray,
Teach us to trust You, love and obey You,
Crown You each moment, Lord of today. —Margaret Clarkson

Genesis 10:1-11:26; Job 13:1-14:22; Matthew 6:19-7:6

That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many. Nehemiah 7:2

Owing to his trustworthiness and reverence for God, Hanani became the equivalent of Jerusalem’s mayor. Faithfulness is an essential quality in God’s service. Whether the task is menial or grand, we are expected to perform it completely and consistently. The Lord promised that loyal service in little things will result in greater responsibility in the coming age (Luke 19:17). Whether it is at our work, in the home, or in the church, saints should persevere, heeding God’s assessment instead of human opinion. —K. R. Keyser

Genesis 8:20-9:29; Job 11:1-12:25; Matthew 6:1-18

Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. 1 Peter 3:21-22

We often worry about what is happening in the world around us. Governments change, sin is legislated for, corrupt people get into high office. Things seem to be out of control. Thank God for the Scripture above. Our Saviour reigns over everything. Nothing happens without Him allowing it. Even the angels are sent forth (by Him) to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation (Heb. 1:14). In the midst of today’s trials, hear anew our Lord Jesus say, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest” (Matt. 11:28). —C. T. Watson

Simply trusting every day, trusting through a stormy way,
Even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all. —E. P. Stites

Genesis 7:11-8:19; Job 9:1-10:22; Matthew 5:21-48

I am the Lord, I do not change. Malachi 3:6a NKJV

Do you feel dizzy in this rapidly changing world? What a comfort to remember that our God does not change because, simply put, He cannot change. Change is the result of moving to either “better”or “worse.” But God cannot get “better.” He’s already perfect. Nor can God get “worse” because, being perfect, God never fails. Everything He says is perfect (Ps. 19:7), and everything He does is perfect: (Ps. 18:30). Today, rest in this rock-solid truth: our God is unchanging and unchangeable. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Heb. 13:8). —Brian Cretney

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be. —T. Chisholm

Genesis 6:1-7:10; Job 8:1-22; Matthew 5:1-20

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Revelation 4:8

Imagine if your life’s work was to praise God continuously—24 hours a day. Well. Isn’t it? If angels and created beings are committed to this, how much more should we who have been redeemed! Is our life a continuous song of praise to Him who gave His life for us? Do our words reflect this daily? Our actions? Do others note our continuous praise and worship of God? May this be our daily practice—to praise Him without ceasing. —Deborah Manera

He enters your circumstances with power. —Unknown

Genesis 4:1-5:32; Job 6:1-7:21; Matthew 4:1-25

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and unlearned men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 NKJV

The world might despise our lack of education but if they recognize that we have been with Jesus some will sit up and take notice of the message that we bring. May the Lord help us to spend much time in His Presence each day reading and meditating in His Word so that something of His beauty will draw men and
women to our Saviour. —David Croudace

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me,
All His wondrous compassion and purity;
O my Saviour divine, all my nature refine,
Till the beauty of Jesus be seen in me. —Albert Orsborn
