The Bible discusses many subjects with accuracy and authority, but its central theme, from Genesis 3 to Revelation 22, is The Coming of Chist.
The tremendous importance and far-reaching implications of our Lord’s First Advent for the purpose of accomplishing redemption and securing reconciliation for a lost race of estranged rebels is fully and gratefully recognized. However, our considerations of the Coming will be limited to its prophetic aspect here, foretold in the Old Testament writings, and fulfilled in the birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus of Nazareth, the Incarnate Son of God, as recorded in the four Gospel narratives.
Limitations of space will, of necessity, make this an abbreviated survey of a vast subject, but other writing will be suggested for further, fuller study.
The purpose of this little book is not only to instruct in sound doctrine but to revive in the hearts of the Lord’s people that sense of expectancy of the imminent coming of Christ which exerted such a salutary influence on the Church during the Philadelphian period referred to in the Preface.
For over 50 years, Mr. Harold Mackay served his Lord, first in Canada, but then for decades in North Carolina. He was preeminently a Bible teacher, speaking at conferences in Canada and in the USA, as well as in his home assembly in Greensboro. His objective was to glorify the Lord by preaching the gospel and building up New Testament assemblies.
