Description

The Saviour God And His Servant King: Isaiah’s Prophecy
By: Malcolm C. Davis

An Introduction, Concise Commentary, and Practical Studies in Isaiah’s Major Themes.

Isaiah’s majestic prophecy is unequalled for breadth and depth of vision, beauty of language, and its revelation of God as both just and a Saviour. Christ is predicted as His Suffering Servant and Earth’s future King. This book’s introduction defends the unity of Isaiah’s authorship against the arguments of scholarly unbelievers. The concise commentary gives a bird’s-eye view of all his messages from a clearly conservative Premillennial standpoint. This accepts the literal, face-value meaning of Scripture wherever possible.

These practical studies in Isaiah’s twelve major themes range from the Character of God and the Messianic prophecies, through the Way of Salvation and all the nations named by Isaiah, to the Day of the Lord. They expound and apply devotional and pracitcal lessons for us today. The final study includes seven reasons why there must be a literal, future, earthly Millennial kingdom of Christ. In short, the book aims to help the reader to gain an overall grasp of the challenging prophecy, and especially to appreciate more deeply our unique Saviour God and His Servant King, Jesus Christ.

Malcolm Davis was brought up by Christian parents in Colchester, Essex. In June 1951 he trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour and in January 1956 was baptised and received into assembly fellowship. He graduated from Oxford University, having studied Classics and Hebrew. After qualifying as a Librarian, he spent five years at Cambridge University Library. He then became an Assistant Librarian at the Brotherton Library, University of Leeds, specialising in Semitic languages. He has published articles on Biblical subjects and two concise commentaries: one on the Book of Revelation, The Climax of World History (2009), the other on the Book of Daniel, Anticipating the End Times (2010).
