Muslim women today inhabit many parts of society, although mostly as second-class citizens, with total reliance on a Muslim man and held captive by the patriarchal religion they have been born into. Conversely, women who choose Islam cannot understand its depths, and so accept what they view as positive elements without fully realizing what that acceptance means. There are critical issues intrinsic to both paths that Muslim women would deny to their peril. When Christian women can address these issues we then get a document filled with both the warm embrace of sisterhood and a desire for the salvation of women who remain behind the veil.
