DAILY READINGS: Gen. 49; Ps. 28-29; Matt . 27:1-26
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4
When the twenty third Psalm was read at my dear mother’s funeral, I stopped at verse four. It does not say valley of death. It says the valley of the shadow of death. What is the diff erence? Light. There must be a source of light in order to have a shadow. Yes, He who is the Light of the world went through that valley with my mother. I heard nothing else that was said; that was all the comfort I needed. Death is merely a shadow; Christ is the substance. —Audrey Fiebig
Yea, though I walk through death’s dark vale, yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me and Thy rod and staff , me comfort still.
—Scott ish Psalter
