DAILY READINGS: 1 Kings 18; Jeremiah 30; Hebrews 1

And upon the table of shewbread they shall spread a cloth of
blue…and the continual bread shall be thereon: and they shall
spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering
of badgers’ skins. Numbers 4:7-8

In preparation for the journey, most of the holy furniture of the
tabernacle was first covered in blue, representative of heavenly glory.
But the table of showbread had covers of two colours, blue and scarlet.
At that table of fellowship, heavenly blue and earthly scarlet were
represented. So it shall be at today’s table, deity and humanity
remembered in the person of Christ, God’s provision for His people.

Gathered to Thy table Lord, losing sight of all but Thee,
Oh what joy the sight affords, calling up our hearts to Thee.—C.A.W.
