DAILY READINGS: 1 Kings 22; Jeremiah 33; Hebrews 4:14 to 5:10
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that
thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God,
to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. Acts 10:33
Cornelius had heard from an angel and he sent for Peter to come
to Caesarea. Peter had miraculous powers and was a compelling
preacher but Cornelius was interested only in hearing a message
from the Lord. So with heart prepared he received the word and it
changed his life forever. When we attend meetings we must not do so
just to listen to an interesting speaker but to hear “the things commanded
of God”. Thus, our lives will be changed to conformity with
Christ, bringing pleasure to God and rich blessing to us. —Roy Hill
Master, speak! Thy servant heareth, waiting for Thy gracious word,
Longing for thy voice that cheereth. Master! Let it now be heard.—F.R.H.
