DAILY?READINGS: Deut. 34; Hosea 6:4 to 7:16; Luke 19:1-28

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Both teaching and training are necessary in child rearing. But there is a difference between the two. Teaching instructs a child to know what is expected of him. Teaching has to do with the mind. Training deals with his will. It is not so much what we say, but more significantly what our actions are and what we do that will influence our children. As parents, how are you training up your child? —Robert Gentile

Let us ever walk with Jesus,
Follow His example pure,
Flee the world, which would deceive us;
And to sin our souls allure. —S. von Birken
