Presently, unbelievers largely consider their lives to be stable and permanent. By contrast, Christian believers are called to live like pilgrims, keeping a loose grip on earthly possessions. Like the patriarchs, they live tent-like existences, willing to put off their present bodies in favor of a coming glorious body, compared to a house (2 Cor. 5:1). People who live for this age appear to establish prosperous houses, but from the spiritual viewpoint, they will be overthrown.
