A man of God…said, Thus saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord. 1 Kings 20:28
Israel had been successful in battle in the hill country and the enemy concluded they could be defeated in the valley. The armies of Israel may have also come to the same conclusion. God sent a prophet to assure them they would be successful in the valley too because God would help them. Their victory would be because the Lord was in control. Do we expect defeat because we are “in the valley?” Let God prove Himself to you. —Ken Gross
