Genesis 3:1-24; Job 4:1-5:27; Matthew 3:1-17
And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people. Luke 24:19
These disciples did not know it was the Lord when He asked “What things?” He wanted to hear from these two on the Emmaus road what they thought of the One whom they had hoped in. In response, they honoured Him three ways. They called Him a prophet; someone who stands in the presence of men on behalf of God.
Secondly, He was honoured for His mighty deeds and mighty words. He served before speaking.
Finally He was honoured for His priorities. God first then the people. How would we respond to the question “What things”? —Sid Halsband
