DAILY READINGS: Deut. 28:1-37; Amos 3:1-4:13; Luke 14:1-24

Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1, NKJV

A roadside sign outside the English village of Wingham had two letters missing. The letters “r” and “v” had been knocked off. Instead of “Drive Carefully” the sign read “D-i-e Carefully”! So many people rush about with busy lives. How wise to stop for a moment to think about the end of life and to prepare to die. Dear reader, die carefully! Die knowing Christ as Saviour. Die with sins forgiven. I hope you will give this some thought— carefully. —Brian Powlesland

Hasten sinner to be wise! Stay not for the morrow’s sun;
Wisdom, if you still despise, harder is it to be won.
Hasten, mercy to implore! Stay not for the morrow’s sun;
Lest thy season should be o’er, ere this evening’s stage be run. —T. Scott

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 26:16-27:26; Amos 1:1-2:16; Luke 13:22-35

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9

These words were addressed to the church of Corinth in a period of extreme crisis. In chapter after chapter the apostle Paul had to deal with matters of faith and order that were seriously wrong there. His theme is the Lordship of Christ. The Lord’s Supper expresses it; the love of Christ exalts it; the power and wisdom of God enshrines it and the resurrection establishes it. How beautiful is the plan of God’s salvation. Have you received it? —Les Rainey

Faithful one, so unchanging; Ageless one, You’re my rock of peace;
Lord of all I depend on You, I call out to You, again and again.

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 25:1-26:15; Jonah 3:1-4:11; Luke 13:1-21

With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26b, NKJV

Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6) It is also not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats could take away our sins (Hebrews 10:4). Thus, the Lord Jesus came to do God’s will (Hebrews 10:7). In Gethsemane, He prayed, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me” (Matthew 26:39, NKJV). But it was impossible for God to spare His Son and He delivered Him up for us all (Romans 8:32). When He died, it was impossible for God to allow His Son to be held in death’s power, so He raised Him to life (Acts 2:23-24). With this, God assures us of our eternal hope in Him. Trust Him. —K. C. Ung

Only believe, only believe; all things are possible, only believe,
Only believe, only believe; all things are possible, only believe.

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 23:9-24:22; Jonah 1:1-2:10; Luke 12:41-59

For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities: Isaiah 59:12

This will be the language of all who stand before God’s judgment. The dead will be judged according to their works. Unsaved
friend, then you will weep as you see your transgressions. Then your sins will testify against you. You did not trust in the  Lamb of God as your sin-bearer. Therefore your sins will still be on you. On that terrible day you will fully know them and you will know God’s wrath when you could have known His love. Delay no longer. Trust Him now! —Carl Knott

What will you do without Him, when He hath shut the door, And you
are left outside because you would not come before? —F. R. Havergal

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 22:1-23:8; Joel 3:1-21; Luke 12:22-40

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

Jean Francois Gravelot, known as “The Great Blondin,” performed a crossing of the Niagara River on a tightrope. After reaching the other side he asked the crowd, “Do you believe I can cross the river while pushing someone in a wheelbarrow?” The crowd answered, “We believe! We believe!” Then he asked, “Who is willing to ride inside the wheelbarrow while I push you across?” No one answered. To say you believe is one thing, but to really mean it is another. Do you really believe on the name of Jesus, that He is the Son of God? —Jerry Proctor

The vilest offender who truly believes,

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 20:1-21:23; Joel 2:1-32; Luke 12:1-21

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags Isaiah 64:6

Salvation is not earned by good works! The holy, sinless Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world. Only by
accepting Him as Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord our Righteousness) will we be eternally saved. Receive God’s gift of mercy today! —E. MacLelland

My terrors all vanished before the sweet Name;
My guilty fears banished, with boldness I came,
To drink at the fountain, life giving and free;
Jehovah Tsidkenu is all things to me.

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 18:9-19:21; Joel 1:1-20; Luke 11:37-54

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool…” Isaiah 1:18, NKJV

Scarlet is a fixed and permanent colour. It is actually the biblical colour for sin, not black. There is no power in chemistry that can take out the scarlet colour without destroying the fabric. However, what is impossible in chemistry is possible in grace. Our Saviour’s work at Calvary can remove sins of deepest dye. As a lost sinner, have you responded to the Lord’s invitation to “Come now”—not tomorrow, next week, or next month, but today? —W. Ross Rainey

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow. —Elvina M. Hall

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 17:1-18:8; Obadiah:1-21; Luke 11:14-36

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

This is an invitation first of all to the sinner who is burdened and distressed by the guilt and tragedy of his sin. To such the Saviour holds out His hands in welcome, offering forgiveness. But you must come repentant and trusting, believing that His death on the cross is sufficient to pay for your sins. Come and know the rest of His love and forgiveness. But it is also an invitation to the Christian who is burdened with the cares and anxieties of this life. Cast your anxieties upon Him and know the rest of His love and care. He does love you. —Donald L. Norbie

Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin? The blood of Jesus
whispers peace within. —Edward H. Bickersteth

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 16:1-22; Song 6:10-8:14; Luke 11:1-13

There is but a step between me and death. 1 Samuel 20:3, KJV

Prepare to meet your God, O Israel! Amos 4:12

Riding home on his bicycle, a young lad suddenly saw a black mamba on the path. Terrified he fell off right on top of the reptile, which promptly sank its fangs into his leg. Far from medical help he died two hours later. Thankfully I had had the privilege of explaining the Gospel to the young man that very morning—how that Christ had died for his sins, and wanted him to trust Him for forgiveness. Whether Kayombo was saved I never knew, but you my friend would do well to prepare to meet your Maker, for there is only a step between us and death. But also only a step between you and God! —David Croudace

Only a step to Jesus! Believe and you will live;
Lovingly now He’s waiting, and ready to forgive. —Fanny J. Crosby

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 14:22-15:23; Song 5:2-6:9; Luke 10:25-42

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool…” Isaiah 1:18, NKJV

This verse names four colours, three of which (scarlet, red and crimson) describe our sin-stained condition in God’s sight. The good news, however, is that cleansing is available through the sin-atoning death of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you wish to be “as white as snow,” put your undivided trust in Him! —George Hall

Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
What can make me whole again?
