2 Chronicles 16:1-17:19; Ezekiel 37:1-28; John 15:1-16

Men ought always to pray, and not to faint. Luke 18:1

A little boy was asked if he prayed every day. “Nope,” was his quick reply, “some days I don’t need nothin’!” How often we are like this boy and use prayer as a fire extinguisher, only in the case of emergencies. The Lord reminds us, as does Paul, that prayer ought to be our daily exercise and we should never lose heart. God always answers prayer, however, not always according to our time schedule or our wishes. As our wise Heavenly Father, He knows what is best for us. —Jim Comte

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer,
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne,
Make all my wants and wishes known. —W. Walford
