Leviticus 13:24-59; Psalm 118:1-29; Mark 4:1-20

The serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. Genesis 3:4

The serpent that tempted Eve had a cunning and subtle aspect to its words. Subtle, God-antagonistic minds often have the ability to twist or confuse the issue. The serpent may have been the first but certainly not the last “intellectual” to promote heresy. Fear of the Lord and a firm trust in His Word would have brought about a better outcome then and will still do the same today. —P. W.

O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guide while life shall last,
And our eternal home. —Isaac Watts
