Judges 21:1-25; Isaiah 40:1-31; 1 Corinthians 16:1-24

And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. Luke 9:30-31

Was Christ’s death at Calvary an accomplishment? Yes! He willingly laid down His life only after He finished bearing all our sin. Decease in the original means “exodus.” Seeing His transfiguration Moses and Elijah were looking beyond His death to His resurrection, exodus to heaven and glorification there. They partially saw the glorified Christ who would accomplish His Father’s will. Someday we will fully see Him face to face. —George Ferrier

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia! —Charles Wesley
