DAILY?READINGS: Leviticus 10; Psalms 111-112; Mark 2:1-22

But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. Psalm 22:6

How poignant these prophetic words concerning the Lord Jesus. A worm is nothing, worthless. Stepped on. “He is despised and rejected of men” (Isa. 53:3). Our Saviour voluntarily became the lowest of the lowest. He identified with His own creation, their guilt and shame, at Calvary. There “the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isa. 53:6). And then through His grace, the value of what He completed there on the cross has come to us all. Let it move our hearts with gratitude and praise, today. —Vernon Markle

On Calv’ry’s brow my Saviour died, ‘Twas there my Lord was crucified; ‘Twas on the cross He bled for me, and purchased there my pardon free.
