And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding. 1 Kings 4:29

The widely watched funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II heard tributes from many leaders. One tribute came from the leader of the Church of Scotland who said in his homily, “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth began her reign, like King Solomon, by asking for wisdom, something that she demonstrated in large measure”. The king of Tyre said, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel…who [gave] to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding” (2 Chron. 2:12). To be wise is to be prudent and demonstrate understanding , characteristics to be admired and sought after.—Brian Powlesland

We have no wealth or learning; what shall we children bring?
We’ll bring Him hearts that love Him; we’ll bring Him thankful praise,
And young souls meekly striving, to walk in holy ways:
And these shall be our treasures, we offer to the King. —Unknown
