DAILY READINGS: Deut. 28:1-37; Amos 3:1-4:13; Luke 14:1-24

Thus saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord. 1 Kings 20:28

Unbelieving religious minds limit God to certain geographic localities. Shrines, cathedrals, and mosques are thought to be especially near to the Almighty. By contrast, Solomon affirmed that the highest heaven could not contain the Lord’s presence (1 Kgs. 8:27). Stephen agreed, maintaining that He does not live in man-made temples (Acts 7:48). God is spirit and can’t be restricted to one locale. He omnipresently guards His children everywhere. —Keith Keyser
