DAILY READINGS: 1 Samuel 6:1-7:17; Isaiah 48:1-22; 2 Corinthians 9:1-15

For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. Galatians 2:12

Paul was referring to Peter who hesitated to eat with those who were Gentiles. God had to teach him that in Christ, there was cleansing and salvation for them as well. Gentile believers were no different to Jewish believers—all were chosen and precious to God. Later Peter was able to write “Unto you therefore which believe” (1 Pet. 2:7), regardless of race. —G. Frear

To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in. —Fanny J. Crosby
