Genesis 15:1-16:16; Job 18:1-19:21; Matthew 8:28-9:17

But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. 1 Thessalonians 2:17

The church is made for gathering around the Lord for worship, encouragement, and edification. When circumstances like sicknesses or other crises prevent individuals or entire congregations fromassembling, it hurts us and impairs our divinely-designed service. Paul missed his fellow-saints and endeavored to see them again. Recent years should teach us to value our meetings and to faithfully use them for God’s glory, as we are able. —Keith R. Keyser

Soon shall all Thy blood-bought children,
Round the throne their anthems raise,
And, in songs of rich salvation,
Shout to God’s eternal praise. —R. Hawker
