Genesis 23:1-20; Job 27:1-28:28; Matthew 12:22-50

In lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Philippians 2:3b-4

The story is told of two goats approaching each other on a high narrow bridge suspended over a river. There was no room to pass. Would one return home or would they fight to the death? Neither! One wise goat lay down on the bridge, and the other one walked over him. This enabled both of them to get across. A yielding spirit is the pathway to success in the body of Christ. Its fruit is peace and unity. May we follow Christ’s example (Phil. 2:5). —George Ferrier

May the love of Jesus fill me, as the waters fill the sea.
Him exalting, self-abasing: this is victory.  —Kate B. Wilkinson
