DAILY?READINGS: 2 Chron. 6:12-42; Ezekiel 30:20-31:18; John 11:28-54

They gathered manna every morning. Exodus 16:21

They did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year. Joshua 5:12

As long as Israel remained in the wilderness they were like new born babes who needed the special wilderness diet of manna. After Israel arrived in Canaan, their diet changed to include the, “old corn of the land” (Josh 5:12). Carnal believers never mature in their longings, but the spiritual believer’s diet will change from milk, to meat—moving into a deeper understanding of Christ and the Christian experience. May God help us to long for deeper things. —Milton Haack

There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.
O Jesus, blest Redeemer, sent from the heart of God,
Hold us who wait before Thee, near to the heart of God. —C. McAfee
