DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 1:1 to 2:3; Job 1:1 to 2:10; Matt. 1

And Esau said, I have enough.    Genesis 33:9

And Jacob said … I have enough.    Genesis 33:11

21 years before this moment, an unbridled desire to attain wealth and possessions sundered the relationship of two brothers. When they reunited with embraces and tears, both could say to the other—I have enough. But the years were gone—forever lost to hatred, bitterness and regret. May God help us to determine this year, what is truly valuable in life and put it first: maintaining relationships, ministering to others, honouring God and doing His work. Not a minute can be regained once it has passed. Don’t let temporal, ultimately inconsequential things rob us of what is truly valuable.     —S. McEachern

Master, forgive, and inspire us anew;
To live with eternity’s values in view.
