Exodus 29:1-37; Psalms 76:1-77:20; Acts 17:1-15

Is not your reverence (fear of God) your confidence? And the integrity of your ways your hope? Job 4:6, NKJV

Did Job think his upright life would make him acceptable to God? Perhaps we might ask, can my good works or religious deeds get me into Heaven? No. It is “not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Eph. 2:9, NKJV). The best I can do will never be good enough because “all [my] righteousnesses are like filthy rags” (Isa. 64:6). Can I then ever be sure of Heaven? Yes, by turning from sin and trusting Christ for He “hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18). —David Croudace

Could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone; Thou must save and Thou alone. —Augustus M. Toplady
